Pinterest for Real Estate Agents

Pinterest is one of the fastest growing social networks, and users spend a great deal of time on the site – second only to Facebook. And 69% of online consumers who use Pinterest have found at least one item they’ve bought or wanted to buy. Putting your listings on Pinterest makes sense. That’s just one of the reasons that Pinterest is good for real estate agents.

You’ve got an established agent website already (I hope). And I hope you’re also sold on the benefits of individual property websites. If you’re also using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or other social networking sites, Pinterest fits neatly into the mix. You can even have your Pinterest pins automatically post to your Facebook and Twitter accounts, should you wish.

Pinterest is a bit like online scrapbooking – you “pin” images to your “boards”. All boards are public, but unless you allow someone to pin on your boards (this is called inviting), you’re the only person who can pin.

A good place to start is with a board that highlights you or your team. Headshots, interests, favorite areas, videos and properties – have fun with it. Invite other agents or members of your team to pin to this board, as well.

Setting up a board for every listing is a great way to promote a home for sale, reinforce the home’s unique property website, and generate interest. You can use the home’s address at the title of the board to keep things simple and easily searchable. Dedicating an entire board to each listing allows you to really promote each home or property’s unique features.

Share the wealth by creating a board of trusted partners – plumbers, electricians, contractors, retailers, mortgage brokers, local banks, painters – the list goes on. If you have a really large number of recommendations, consider breaking them up across individual boards, with narrower focus categories.

Get creative with a DIY-themed board. This can cover home construction ideas, maintenance, gutter cleaning, natural homemade cleaning products – the sky is the limit. Useful, creative tips and tricks for the homeowner are always popular on Pinterest.

How about your design or decorating ideas and preferences? You view, promote and sell houses for a living. This board is your fun board!

A board with home staging ideas is another great opportunity for a real estate agent to show their expertise and style. Give your clients and followers some great visual ideas for a well-staged home.

If you service particular areas in a city, consider making neighborhood-specific boards. You can pin schools, parks, restaurants, churches, and more, showcasing the best of each neighborhood where you specialize or have homes for sale.

It’s important to note that Pinterest always links directly to the page from where you pinned the image. Pinning images directly from listings on your website will increase traffic and lead potential buyers where you want them to go.
